I'm shooting with an old 2.0 megapixel Cybershot, which means quality wise I can only do so much with the camera and my lighting set up. Still using lighting and some Photoshop color correcting, some shots are turning out reasonable. If I regain access to a macro lens I'll re-shoot. In the meantime going to keep snapping things and doing what I can with what I've got.

Since I start a 4-6 week gig Monday I'm using the next few days to do things I couldn't "legitimately" do while looking for a job. Namely drinking beer and playing with toys. Actually, by play with toys I mean photograph them. Below is from a series of test shots of my repro Gaiking.

Things boded ill when he shot me with a missile during set up. But he settled down, I took a few shots and played with the lighting. Unfortunately I'm using very yellow lighting (aka lamps from Ikea) so all the final shots will have to be color corrected. Silver lining shooting against white gives me a great reference for color correcting.

This is one of the shots with nominal (<1 minute) if color correction. Any opinions?

Been kinda busy, my apologies for missing a few days of posts. I realize that this isn't a pulitzer winning cartoon, but it was fun to draw and color. I think the shine on the windows and the clouds turned out nicely.

This piece also taught me a lesson about getting my perspective correct during the sketch. While it's not 100% in the drawing, it's FAR better than it was thanks to some digital trickery.

since a chogokin has caught my eye, but Shin Mazinger Z with God Scrander? Hellz yeah! I mean, he transforms into the Right Hand of Zeus!

Oh carp: Chogokin Macross Quarter!. It will be just under 12" in attack mode (battroid) and 17.5" in cruiser. THat's just smallerr the Matchbox SDF-1. Comes witha variety of in scale mecha and enemy.

Course that and a VF-25F Super Messiah Valkyrie (Alto) will put you back just shy of $450.00. Cheaper will be the Bandai Robot Soul versions of the VF-25 and Queadluun-Rea, at about $40 a pop.

I've long known that two issues of TT get delivered to "The Office of the President of the United States". It's always been kind of a joke for me. Well today I got word that I had a new fan, Congressman James Oberstar (D-Minn.). Check him out with my toon he appeared in a few weeks back. Makes me glad I did a little extra work on that piece. Even more glad that I snuck in the Kite Eating Tree, just for the hell of it.

Kinda pointless, but always fun to see my work in the wild.

Raise your paw if you're sure. May, 2007

In case you're new around here, Max (pictured above) belongs to my friends. However he visits often enough that he is a regular guest in the Daily Ferg.
