Was watching Connections the other day and they had some really nice 1490s armor reenactments. It got me to run out a couple pages of sketches. Course nothing like throwing in a big angel wing to change the context.
Due to poor planning a chunk of this drawing is digital - done on a Wacom. Good practice. Not certain I'm ready for an all digital piece, but working on it.
Revisiting an old design from high school, Harlequin Armor. Factory fresh the armor was gunmetal gray, but was widely customized. The fashion of the time (at least according to White Dwarf Magazine) was bright, complex patterns, hence the moniker Harlequin.
As an aside, there are two versions of the Akira soundtrack. It's worth looking to dig up the Japanese version with movie dialog over the music. Apparently some people hate iot, I really like it.
Still need to fix two faucets and find time to give blood. the SCIA BAN job is now back on the list. Drew the hand while watching Timecrimes. Pretty good movie, simple yet complex, in the way time travel can be.
This week's and last week's cartoon sketches, random stuff that didn't pan out. Sometimes things go smooth. The beach toon came together straight away. Then there are the three on the right which were abortive attempts to get a toon framed right.
Was watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, and got the urge to draw guitar, since I can't play it. Done with ballpoint and Micron, but without reference. Honestly I only meant to clean it up a little in Pshop. Ended up cleaning it a lot and throwing in the half tones. Think it makes the rest of the shot pop.
Kinda swamped till I finish the cartoon tonight. I'm working on site for the next few weeks, with no net access, so I'll be all early morning and late night posts.
FYI: Have an extra pup, and a e13m in the house so I won't be bugging you much today. Hope everyone hass agreeat weekend, hope to see some of you at Spellbound's Zombie night tomorrow.
Yeah, kinda hard to get what's going on here. Supposed to be looking down into a valley from a set of terraces. Kinda a WH30K every square inch covered thing. It makes more sense larger. I may do some more work to make it more legible or just use it as a jump off for something more ambitious.
I'm having all kinds of annoying issues with my ISP. But the wierd thing is I'm only having them with Kickintheeye.com, not the other 3 domains. feh.
Decided to doodle a megalopolisy city. Started with the port and breakwater in front and worked up to the arcologies in the back. The semi circular rings mark the docks and above them landing areas
