Since there were many, many, MANY inquiries about last nights movies I figured I'd repost what they were. Both are available on Netflix
Love Object
This horror movie follows introverted technical writer Kenneth, who can't bring himself to reveal his feelings for co-worker Lisa. Attempting to get over his fear, he purchases a realistic doll named Nikki that looks like Lisa and eventually works up the nerve to talk to his dream girl. Unfortunately, the doll soon becomes jealous of Kenneth's affection for Lisa and reveals her violent tendencies.
May
Nobody knows what to make of May (Angela Bettis). Born with a lazy eye, for which she wore a patch while growing up, she became a loner oddball whose only friend was a perfectly kept doll. She moves to L.A. and takes up with a filmmaker (Jeremy Sisto), but the relationship sours quickly -- and dangerously. She then befriends an alluring lesbian colleague (Anna Faris), but that, too, along with every connection May attempts to make, turns deadly.

Screen grabs from 1080p movie trailers. I've had them on my desktop for a few days, and figured I'd share before deleting
I'm not kidding about the size of these )

So I'm watching Masters of the Universe and trying to place the one of the actors. I recognized his voice, but he's SO young in it... And it is Robert Duncan McNeill. Voyeager's Tom Paris. You'd think with 13 years passing between the gigs he would have taken some acting lessons. You'd think wrong.

I'm going to skip talking about Courtney Cox and just say Langella (who was on a few episodes of DS9) does an amazing job as Skeletor. I like to think he hearkened back to the villainous role for inspiration as Dick Nixon in Frost/Nixon.

Alien/Blade Runner director Ridley Scott is going to make The Forever War into a movie.

Seems he wanted to do it 25 years ago, but rights problem prevented him. Sure it will be years before it ever hits the screen, but this is nerd-dream-come-true on a truly epic scale.

I expect Forever War to be a much finer movie than Haldeman's other film opus: Robot Jox.

That's not where I was supposed to park
Seriously though, how cool is that?

Watched Dark Star last night (technically I watched it twice.) Ever notice how when you watch a John Carpenter movie you always want to preface it with John Carpenter's. Pretty good marketing schtick. Anywho... movie would have been better with a few friends around to MST3K it, but it's got it's moments. Notably: Bomb 20 and the main computer the alien beating Pinback with the broom and, of course, the awesome conversation with the bomb:

I watched both the uncut and Director's cut. The uncut version is funnier.

OK it's not my imagination. I was watching Dark Star, and while based on a Ray Bradbury story (Kaleidoscope), it's kind of a spoof of 2001. Well I'm watching it and thinking "This is soooo much like Alien." Turns out it is! Dark Star was co-written by the writer of Alien. If you're a buff you should definitely give Dark Star a go. But as I said, it's better with beer 'n friends.

Here's a little actually related MBM bonus.

If I show up at Wasteland soaked in blood.
A) It's not mine
B) Those whom it belonged to really won't be needing it anymore

In good news Freedom Formula is in development as a live action film.
I know nothing about Freedom Formula except that it involves giant mecha racing.

I love mecha*, I love futuristic racing. If one were to go off the track and crush an unawares editor, all the better

That will pretty much keep me going till some genius options Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons. Seriously. They made Snakes on a Plane, why am I still waiting for Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons?

* ok they're exo-suits not mecha. Still I'm there.

A long-lost original cut of the 1927 silent film sat for 80 years in a private collection and then in the Museum of Cinema in Buenos Aires, where it was discovered in April with scratched images that hadn't been seen before.

Museum director Paula Felix-Didier said theirs is the only copy of German director Fritz Lang's complete film.
I meant to post this a few days ago, but forgot about it. Not only does the uncut version contain several missing scenes, it is also cut differently. So the story is different then the version we are all familiar with.

Animatronic WALL•E. At first I thought it was kinda of neat. But his size and some of the movements hemakes about 30 seconds in really impressed me.
